Important: HolyorNOT is an AI-powered tool for Bible verse verification. It uses AI vision to read text from images and AI web search to compare quotes against actual scripture. Results are not guaranteed to be accurate and should not be treated as authoritative theological guidance. Always consult your Bible or pastor for authoritative scripture interpretation.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using HolyorNOT, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. How It Works

HolyorNOT is a client-side web application that runs entirely in your browser. You provide your own Groq API key to power AI features including camera-based text reading and scripture verification via web search. All processing happens directly between your browser and Groq's API at api.groq.com. There is no HolyorNOT server — the site is static code hosted on Cloudflare's CDN.

3. Your API Key

You are responsible for your own Groq API key. By using HolyOrNOT, you agree to:

Comply with Groq's Terms of Use
Keep your API key secure
Accept responsibility for all usage under your key

HolyorNOT does not have access to your API key and cannot be held responsible for charges incurred on your Groq account.

4. Not Theological Advice

HolyorNOT is not a substitute for:

Reading your Bible directly
Consulting a pastor, priest, or religious leader
Seminary education or theological study
Attending Bible study groups
Using established Bible concordances and reference materials

AI can read text and search the web, but it is not a theologian. Verification results are informational starting points, not authoritative interpretations.

5. No Guarantees

Verification results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or miss context. Common limitations include:

Differences between Bible translations (KJV, NIV, ESV, etc.)
Paraphrased verses that capture the spirit but not exact wording
AI misidentifying the source translation
Verses that appear in slightly different forms across translations
Context-dependent meaning that AI may not fully capture
Apocryphal or deuterocanonical texts not in all Bible versions

A "Verified Scripture" result does not guarantee theological accuracy of interpretation. A "Not In The Bible" result may miss legitimate paraphrases or alternate translations.

6. Not Affiliated with Any Church or Organization

HolyorNOT is an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any church, denomination, religious organization, Bible publisher, or theological institution.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use HolyorNOT for:

Harassing or mocking anyone's religious beliefs
Automated bulk queries or API abuse
Misrepresenting AI verification results as authoritative theological rulings
Any purpose that violates applicable laws

8. No Data Retention

Because HolyorNOT operates entirely in your browser, no data is retained by us. Verse queries, photos, and verification results exist only in your browser tab and are lost when you close it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Limitation of Liability

HolyorNOT is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

Any decisions made based on verification results
Inaccuracies in AI-generated verification data
Theological disputes arising from tool results
Any issues arising from your use of the Groq API
Embarrassment from sharing an incorrectly verified verse

10. Free Forever Guarantee

HolyorNOT is and will remain completely free with zero tracking:

No premium tiers, paywalls, or paid features — ever
No analytics, tracking pixels, cookies, or user data collection
No advertisements
The BYOK architecture ensures privacy by design

11. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service indicates acceptance of any changes.
