How HolyOrNOT Works

Text Verification (Type or Paste)

Type any Bible verse reference (like "John 3:16") or paste a quote you've seen. HolyOrNOT uses AI web search to look up the actual scripture and compare it against what you entered.

Camera Scan (Groq API Key)

Point your camera at any Bible quote on a sign, meme, tattoo, greeting card, or social media post. AI reads the text and automatically extracts the verse reference and quoted text.

Deep Verify (AI Search)

Deep Verify uses AI-powered web search to verify the quote against actual scripture:

• Looks up the exact verse text from the Bible
• Compares quoted text against the real verse
• Identifies which Bible translation it's closest to (KJV, NIV, ESV, etc.)
• Checks if the quote is from the Bible at all
• Identifies common misattributions and misquotations

Your Privacy

HolyOrNOT uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) architecture. Your photos and text are sent directly from your browser to Groq AI using your personal API key. There is no HolyOrNOT server — just static code on Cloudflare's CDN.

Verdicts

Verified Scripture: The quote accurately matches real Bible text.

Misquoted: The verse reference is real but the text doesn't match the original.

Wrong Attribution: The quote is attributed to the wrong book, chapter, or verse.

Not In The Bible: This quote is not found anywhere in the Bible.
